A Sustainable Second Home for Your Craft Supplies

In today's world, where we're increasingly aware of the environmental impact of our actions, it's more important than ever to find ways to reduce waste and reuse resources. That's why we were thrilled when our friend Molly from Tokodots introduced us to Thistle Creative Reuse, a woman-owned and operated business that's dedicated to empowering creativity and sustainability. We love the mission of Thistle Creative Reuse and wanted to share more about them.

Thistle Creative Reuse is a non-profit organization that's committed to diverting reusable materials from the waste stream and making them available to artists, educators, and makers. Based in Denton, Texas, the company collects via donations, a wide range of materials, from fabric and yarn to paper and paint, and makes them available for sale at their retail store.

In addition to the circular craft supply economy they have created, they're also committed to educating the community about the value of creative reuse and the importance of sustainability. They offer workshops and classes that will inspire your inner artist and help you hone your skills. Whether you're interested in sewing, bookbinding, or jewelry making, Thistle Creative Reuse has got you covered with fun and engaging classes that use materials that may have eventually ended up in a landfill if they had not been donated to Thistle Creative Reuse.

Thistle Creative Reuse is also committed to making creativity and sustainability accessible to everyone. Each month they donate materials that value at least two percent of their monthly sales to community organizations, groups, educators, and nonprofits in North Texas.

We highly recommend checking out Thistle Creative Reuse if you're in the Denton area or if you're interested in learning more about creative reuse and sustainability. If you are interested in donating lightly loved materials or craft supplies that are just taking up space in your craft room after organizing it, their donation page has more information about their programs. And while you're at it, follow them on Instagram (@thistlecreativereuse) to stay up to date on all their fun events and projects.
