Announcing the 7th Annual Jingle Bash!

Yes friends, it's almost our favorite time of the year! The 7th Annual Jingle Bash will be here before you know it!

This year, we will be back at Gilley's Dallas, but with the addition of an extra room. We have made more space for even more artists, crafters, and makers. We will have lots of your returning local favorites and new guest artists to meet too. We are absolutely thrilled about our lineup this year! You can check out the full lineup on our Artists page

Planning on attending? Helpful Jingle Bash tips:
  • Get there early! Doors open at 11 am, and the first 50 attendees receive limited-edition Bash Bags stuffed with free goodies from sellers.
  • Bring the kids! The Etsy Dallas Jingle Bash is a kid-friendly event! There will be make-and-take crafts for kids and grown-ups alike. There is a restaurant on-site as well for those post-shopping hungries. FYI: crowds can be a challenge to navigate with a stroller, so if you're worried, feel free to come later in the day when the crowds thin a little bit, and you'll be able to shop with ease. You can even eat at the restaurant when you're done!
  • Bring cash as well as cards. Many sellers accept credit cards nowadays, but sometimes it is easier (and quicker) to pay for your purchase with cash. There is an ATM at Gilley's, but if you'd like to avoid fees, you should probably withdraw cash from your bank's ATM.
Over the next few weeks, we will give a preview of all the talented artisans that you will have the chance to meet at the Jingle Bash here on the blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Stay tuned and keep up to date with all the latest Bashy info with hashtags #etsydallas and #2015JingleBash.

Shop Spotlight: Lawless Souls

Hello, again, and welcome back to our weekly installment of our Shop Spotlight Series! This week, we're featuring another new member, Lawless Souls. Nickie Feddersen and Desiree Reid create fun and cute clothing for women featuring music lyrics.

Let's get started!

What year did you open your shop? 2014
What is your shop's motto? Live in the Lyrics

What is your favorite item that you sell? Women's vintage-inspired clothing that is inspired by music.
Fun fact about you: We met in college at Oklahoma State in 1996.

How did you get started? Lawless Souls was born out of a late-night phone conversation of us talking about how many unwearable concert tee shirts we own because they are all ill-fitting and ugly! We set out to create a way for women and girls to express themselves and still look amazing.

Anything else we should know? We both LOVE and are inspired by vintage items - be it clothing, jewelry, or furniture. We are inspired by the same "vintage" music!

Thanks, ladies! Your stuff is really, really great!

Shop Spotlight: Curious & Fanciful

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another installation of our Shop Spotlight series! This week we are featuring Curious & Fanciful, a truly unique shop with incredible hand-painted and letterpress designs.

What year did you open your shop? 2008
What is your shop's motto? Live Long and Prosper

One of Katrina's letterpress designs.

What is your favorite item that you sell? For my large shows, especially Jingle Bash, I make 4 or 5 glass shadow boxes to sell. They are very unique gifts. I reproduce my feather and butterfly paintings, cut them out, and shape them to look real. I then mount them in hand-crafted glass boxes to hang on the wall. People can't believe they are paper!

A butterfly in-process

The finished 3-D paper butterfly

Watercolor feathers

What is a fun fact about you? I can write with my toes!

Katrina spends much of her free time painting larger canvas pieces.

How did you get started? I grew up in a small town and never had the opportunity to be involved in art classes because my electives were filled up with band and journalism. When I moved to Denton to study interior design at UNT, I learned that I had quite a bit of catching up to do. I had always loved doodling, but never considered it my calling. Suddenly, I was immersed in fine arts classes studying drawing, design, and computers in art, model making, color theory, and print making. I even did some study abroad in the Czech Republic to learn about Mucha, Art Nouveau, and architecture. I also learned a lot about beer, and got engaged!

When I returned home, I decided to change my major to Art History, and began planning my wedding. I fell head over heels for letterpress wedding invitations and HAD to have them. Better yet, I had to make my own. Better yet, this is what I could do after college! One thing lead to another, and before I knew it, I had convinced my future husband and father to take a road trip to Kansas City to purchase a Chandler & Price letterpress made in 1897.

I graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Arts & Design Studies because I truly studied a little bit of everything to try and find my niche. What I found was that I am passionately curious about learning new art mediums. I am curious and fanciful, and my shop is all about different types of art and what you can do with a little bit of practice and courage.

Thanks so much, Katrina! What a wonderful insight into your life as an artist. We're so glad to have you along as a team member!

EstieMade Dainty Tourmaline Rope Ring

What is your favorite item that you sell? Rings!
